Fort Widley

On Saturday 24th October, Maggie Hill and Celia Hawson from the Communications Branch joined Coastguard Rescue Teams from the Southampton, South Downs, Portsmouth and Wight Sectors. They were also joined by a local police unit, for a days training at Fort Widley, a Napoleonic Fort located near Portsmouth.

Operation Autumn Gold

On Sunday 6th September Officers from Hastings Police and colleagues from the Coastguard Rescue Service and Hastings Borough Council Park Ranger service took part in a joint training exercise at Fairlight Country Park called Operation "Autumn Gold". The Officers, working closely with the other agencies were set a number of tasks designed to train them for searching for vulnerable or missing people in the Country park and along the cliff tops.

Major exercise

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency is responsible for a major international maritime exercise taking place in the Channel on Tuesday November 3rd 2009. The multi-agency exercise Manchex 2009 will involve Coastguard and the emergency services from Britain and France.

Waitrose charity fund

Lymington CGA branch recently received £540.00 from the Waitrose Local Community Charity Fund.
 
For those unaware, Waitrose Branches have a monthly collection/donation scheme which involves customers being given a green disc at the check out and place it in the box of their choice (3).
