Lionels final resting place
The images below were taken by a diver who discovered a 600lb mine in Swanage Bay. Portland Coastguard were contacted who then informed the Royal Navy bomb disposal unit. The World War II mine had become a nice home for a lobster, who would not let the divers remove him. Portland Coastguard nicknamed the lobster 'Lionel', and Lionel became quite the media star in the press that followed. The mine was then detonated as part of a controlled explosion, unfortunately with Lionel still inside.
